Local Media Readers Spend Big at Christmas

Local media readers are big spenders over the festive period with 1.3 million forking out £800 or more on Christmas gifts, according to TGI. 

Over Christmas, 3.5 million local media readers will buy 15 or more gifts – making them a key audience for retailers over the festive period.


The majority of people who spend £800 or more on Christmas gifts read local newspapers, according to TGI.

And 7.8 million local media readers buy 11 or more gifts, with 8.4 million spending more than £350.

TGI also reveals that just half of local media readers enjoy a drink on festive occasions.
