Newsquest Wins Investor in People Award
Newsquest’s group editorial services unit has received an award from Investors in People which recognises good people management practice in business.
The publisher received a bronze standard from Investors in People is the UK’s leading accreditation for business improvement through people management, and provides a wealth of resources for businesses to innovate, improve and grow, with a focus on good people making great business
Newsquest’s group editorial services unit integrates both digital and print editorial production and planning functions. The team, based in Newport, South Wales, brings together newspaper planning, page design, and copy-editing, producing more than 250 Newsquest products.
The department employs 140 people and runs a graduate training programme in conjunction with Cardiff University School of Journalism. This has resulted, so far, in more than 30 new staff gaining National Council for the Training of Journalism qualifications.
A similar number of team members have undertaken Institute of Leaders and Managers qualifications in coaching and mentoring; change management and communication, Newsquest added in a press release.
