Coverage of Royal Rota Events Rises in 2016
The first six months of the year have seen a rise in the number of high profile royal and political events covered News Media Association member publishers and photographic agencies.
Rota group members filled three per cent more positions on rotas than they did in the corresponding period last year, and the NMA has helped allocate rota passes for more than 400 engagements since the start of 2016.
The NMA has also helped ensure that member publishers have been able to access high profile events such as celebrations for The Queen’s 90th birthday, President Obama’s visit to Number 10 Downing Street, and Theresa May’s first speech as Prime Minister.
Nearly 70 different local, regional and national newspapers have attended a royal rota or political pool in 2016.
In June, to coincide with The Queen’s birthday, the NMA ran the Royal Rota photography competition which was won by the London Evening Standard’s Jeremy Selwyn.
The NMA tweets rota coverage of royal events from @newsmediaorg using the hashtag #RoyalRota.
