PM Writes Exclusive Piece for Manchester Evening News

Theresa May has written an article for the Manchester Evening News in which she confirmed the date for a parade celebrating Great Britain’s Olympic success.

In a piece for the paper, the Prime Minister confirmed that the national celebration will take place on 17 October in Manchester.

The Prime Minister wrote: “The North has been an important focal point for elite sport and has played a huge part in helping see in these enormously successful Games. Team GB and ParalympicsGB were the best-prepared team we have ever had, and many medals were won by athletes either from or based in the Northern Powerhouse.

“That’s among the many reasons why Manchester is so well-placed to host our celebratory parade.”

She also outlined her commitment to a series of projects in the region including improving transport links and supporting science and innovation, and pursuing the Government’s devolution agenda.

Separately this week, the Maidenhead Advertiser launched its annual competition for local schoolchildren to design the Prime Minister’s Christmas card which this year is on the theme of ‘Christmas at Downing Street’.

The Maidenhead Advertiser has followed Theresa May from her election as the first MP for Maidenhead nearly 20 years ago to her appointment as Prime Minister.
