The Daily Mail Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Money Mail
The Daily Mail is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Money Mail.
Published every Wednesday, Money Mail launched in 1966 as a two-page focus on savings, mortgages, pensions, investing and insurance. Its campaigns have won major Government reforms to women’s pensions, endowment mortgages, bank charges, final salary pensions and children’s savings. More recently its efforts helped win the pension freedoms, a cap on investment fees and a U-turn on a tax raid on retirement funds.
Dan Hyde, Money Mail editor, said: “To reach the golden 50th anniversary and have retained so much of the original Money Mail character over the years is a testament to its huge popularity among the Daily Mail’s millions of readers.
“The original five main pillars of our coverage – savings, mortgages, pensions, investments and insurance – remain today. But enormous social change over the past 50 years has also led us to widen our focus to energy provision, holidays, mobile and internet services, cybercrime and now privacy and the fin-tech boom.”
