Tortoise Media Joins News Media Association

Tortoise Media, the “slow” online news brand launched by James Harding, Katie Vanneck-Smith and Matthew Barzun, has joined News Media Association membership.

Tortoise Media takes an in-depth “look behind the headlines” and has almost 8,000 members, 40 per cent of whom are under 30, with three-quarters of its staff in editorial.

Keith Blackmore, Tortoise said: “The NMA is renowned for its campaigning on the sustainability of journalism in the UK which is a core value of Tortoise Media. We are delighted to be a part of the NMA membership and look forward to supporting its leading press freedom work.”

Quest Media Network also joined the NMA earlier this year. The Network based in Ashton Under Lyne, publishes The Tameside Reporter, The Glossop Chronicle and The Oldham Reporter.
