Newsquest Launches Climate Change Campaign

Newsquest is launching a climate change campaign across its 160 local news brands.

The publisher, which has over 40 million unique visitors online, today launched the ‘Climate Crisis – Time For Change’ campaign across its portfolio.

The campaign was the brainwave of Emma Stowell-Corten, magazines manager at Newsquest, the publisher said in a press release.

She said: “I feel it is important that we use our privileged position as a trusted local news source to ensure that accurate news and information about the climate crisis is freely available.

“With so much disinformation around, it’s important that we use our platforms to make sure our readers are as informed as possible. This is a crisis that requires all of our attention.”

Across its titles, which include the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Southern Daily Echo, The Brighton Argus, The Northern Echo, Bradford Telegraph & Argus and The York Press, the publisher will share updates on how local and national businesses across the UK are responding to the challenge.

The coverage will also include news from all corners of the globe that tells the real stories of the impact that climate change is having on people and places, as well the latest science around the issue.

Emma said: “Our titles are uniquely placed to share news from across the world, along with local issues and stories that impact on the challenge ahead, and as local trusted newspapers we know it’s our societal and moral duty to give readers the facts.”
