JICREG has partnered with Mediatel for the Mediatel Media Research Awards which celebrate the very best that media research has to offer as well as showcasing innovation, effectiveness and business impact.

The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in central London on 10 March.

JICREG is sponsoring the Research Effectiveness Award in which ITV, JCDecaux/Posterscope/Clear Channel and MTM/Channel 4 are shortlisted for innovative media research projects.

JICREG chief executive Keith Donaldson said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Mediatel for these awards which showcase the best in media research from right across the sector.

“As the gold standard in local media audience measurement, JICREG offers unique insight which can be used by media planners to develop innovative and effective campaigns which deliver real impact for their clients.”

Audience data released by JICREG last year shows that online audiences for local news media surged by 17.9 per cent in a year with 42 million people accessing local journalism in print or digital each month.

The launch of the JICREG Life is Local database update in November was backed by OmniGOV chief executive Paul Knight who explained why he believes local media is such a powerful proposition for advertisers such as Government which partnered with news media for ‘All Together’

Mr Knight said: “Trusted journalism has taken on increased importance in our lives and advertisers can benefit as a result. And this is as true for Government as it is for the businesses which will power our economy going forward. Now, it is up to the advertising community to seize the opportunity to align with this vital and unique force for good.”

Mobile consumption of local news has grown significantly with 10.9 million young people (aged 15-34) consuming local media on mobile every month – up 18.5 per cent in the last year, the JICREG Life is Local audience update found.
